Mixed Martial Arts

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is our program designed to introduce you to the
basics of Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Submission Grappling. These
techniques have been tested and refined through decades of study. The
goal of the Basic program is to provide a firm foundation for an
understanding of the arts, while beginning to condition your mind and
body for a safer, stronger, fitter lifestyle.

The class covers your fundamentals of stand up and ground techniques,
skills and drills. All of these are based on the teachings of the I.M.B.
Academy, Kru Phil Nurse and Fernando Sarmento Jr.  This class is
required of all beginner students to build their core ability and fitness
level prior to joining the Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Programs.

The first minutes of the class are dedicated to warming up and
loosening of all the muscles, followed by technique and basic moves. 
The various techniques and drills will include strikes, defensive motion,
takedowns and ground skills.  Slowly your awareness and ability to
blend all the ranges of combat will start to develop. The last part of the
class for advanced students is dedicated to sparring–this is where you
will try the various techniques on an opponent in a “live” setting under
professional supervision and proper control.
